Find Your Balance

-- ABOUT ME -- Welcome to Sage Counseling, a private mental health counseling practice operated by Hannah Karamanoogian, MA, ATR-BC, LCMHC - Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in NH, MA, FL and VT, Board Certified Art Therapist, Licensed School Adjustment Counselor. I've spent more than a decade working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and professions to help them feel empowered, confident, balanced, joyful, and calm in their lives. It is my feeling that we come to this earth without mastery of the skills needed to thrive and live a calm, balanced, empowered life. Our early years are spent in school studying a range of topics from English and History, to Math and Physical Education. However, more often than not, the training of how to successfully manage our mindset is left off the curriculum. Learning how to manage our thoughts and feelings effectively is a skill to be learned and practiced. This is where I believe I can support you and/or your child's growth and development. -- COUNSELING APPROACH -- Every person has a unique set of needs. As a result, I utilize a wide range of techniques to meet each person where they are at. My ultimate goal is to use your personal strengths to support you in feeling empowered, balanced and whole. I am well versed in traditional psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and expressive arts therapy. Some or all of these techniques may be utilized during our time together. Counseling services can be new and scary for any person. A positive therapeutic relationship is based on mutual trust which takes time to foster and develop. I encourage all of my clients to chat with me if they are feeling any sense of discomfort or unease. It is my goal to ensure that the connection feels safe and secure as healing, growth, and confidence is built best from a foundation of trust. If what you’re reading speaks to you, I encourage you to schedule a free brief phone consultation where we can learn more about one another. Use the "Contact" button at the top of this page to submit a request, email hannah@sagenh.com, or call 203.885.SAGE (7243). -- FAQs -- DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE? You do have the option to utilize your insurance in our work together. If you choose this option you would be seeking out-of-network benefits for our sessions. This typically is done by submitting what's called a "Superbill" to your insurance and is fairly easily to navigate. When using your insurance in an out-of-network instance, your sessions would be charged directly to you at the time of our appointment. After submitting a Superbill your insurance may reimburse you directly for a portion of the cost based on your plan's coverage for therapy/mental health counseling. Superbills are emailed to clients on a monthly basis. During our phone consult or initial intake I am more than happy to discuss this option with you and help you as best as I can regarding navigating the out-of-network benefits process. Exact amount of reimbursement will depend upon your insurance carrier and plan for out-of-network provider coverage. In all instances I encourage you to discuss this directly with your carrier. I accept both cash and/or credit card. Additionally, many HSA/FSA cards are approved to be used for mental health counseling and are acceptable forms of payment. Please confirm with your carrier/plan. Receipts are available upon request. If you feel it would be more helpful to discuss this over the phone, please don't hesitate to reach out. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT MY OUT-OF-NETWORK BENEFITS ARE WITH MY INSURANCE? Please contact your benefits coordinator/health insurance plan directly to gather more details around your out-of-network coverage for mental health services. The following questions may be helpful in your discussion with your insurance carrier: 1) Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services both in-person and telehealth? 2) What is my annual deductible? Has my annual deductible been met? 3) How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover? 4) How much does my insurance plan reimburse for an out-of-network provider for the following CPT codes: 90837, 90791, and 90834? 5) Do I need a referral and/or approval from my PCP? HOW FREQUENTLY AND FOR HOW LONG DO WE MEET? Sessions range from 45-55 minutes in length. I find that weekly sessions provide the most benefit and room for growth for my clients. I do request that the first four sessions are conducted weekly to establish a relationship, build rapport, explore your history, and develop a foundation for successful healing and growth. That being said, I always work with people where they are at and frequency of sessions (weekly, bi-weekly) will be determined collaboratively during the initial intake appointment and are subject to change as the counseling relationship is established and needs are identified and understood more clearly. DO YOU OFFER IN-PERSON OR TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS? I offer the option of both in-person or Telehealth appointments based upon your needs/preferences. CAN I SEE YOU VIA TELEHEALTH IF I MOVE OUT OF STATE, GO ON VACATION, ETC.? Please treat any Telehealth appointment as though you would treat an in-person appointment. That means if you are not in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, or Florida at the time of our appointment, please reschedule. Unfortunately, state licensures limits my ability to practice in any other state than the one(s) that I am licensed to practice in (NH and MA in-person/telehealth, as well as telehealth-only in VT and FL). Luckily, as I offer Telehealth, if you live in NH but far from my office you are still welcome to see me virtually. -- DISCLAIMER -- You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Beginning January 1, 2022, psychologists and other health care providers are required by law to provide uninsured and self-pay patients a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of costs for services that they offer, when scheduling care or when the patient requests an estimate. The regulations implement part of the “No Surprises Act,” enacted in December 2020 as part of a broad package of COVID-19- and spending-related legislation. The act aims to reduce the likelihood that patients may receive a “surprise” medical bill by requiring that providers inform patients of an expected charge for a service before the service is provided. You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a GFE in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider and any other provider you choose, for a GFE before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your GFE, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or photo of your GFE. For questions or more information about your rights to a GFE visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. -- -- You can have a life where you feel empowered to tackle the stressors life throws at you and navigate challenges with confidence.
